Preach on!
This is a site linked off your first link (http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/css/reset/index.html). OS’s, browsers and devices all render the characteristics of elements as they best can, the results are not always the same across the board. So, resetting the CSS is helpful.
In the post-Web Standards development world we find ourselves in today, proselytizing is unnecessary. I think what matters is that we simply find our way as web developers to the solutions that really work for us as well as the websites, users, visitors, and devices.
Resetting the CSS is helpful. I’m doing so for the websites I build now. Following the link you provided, I noticed that the reset file that Eric Meyer initially developed has evolved into http://www.blueprintcss.org/
Cheers.
